Laka MD WhatsApp Bot: Features, Session ID and Deployment Guide

LAKA-MD is a WhatsApp bot project published on GitHub by Supun Madhuranga, a developer from Sri Lanka. It is built with Node.js and the Baileys library, ships with a plugin based structure, a Heroku deployment file and PM2 scripts, and its README is brief: it publishes no feature list, no command list and no pairing guide. This guide covers only what the repository files confirm, including the project components, how the Session ID fits into the setup, the deployment routes the files describe, and the safety points to know first.

About

What Is LAKA-MD WhatsApp Bot?

What the project is, who publishes it, and what its repository contains.

LAKA-MD is a third party WhatsApp bot project hosted on GitHub. Its README describes it in one line, as a bot designed to facilitate other functions within WhatsApp.

The project is published by Supun Madhuranga, a developer from Sri Lanka. It is written in JavaScript, runs on Node.js, and uses the @whiskeysockets/baileys library for its WhatsApp connection, with PM2 available for process management.

A note on documentation: the README is brief and mostly introduces the developer. It does not publish a detailed feature list, a command list, or pairing instructions, so this guide states only what the repository files themselves confirm and says plainly where the documentation stops.

The repository root contains index.js as the main entry file, config.js for configuration, command.js, a plugins folder for bot plugins, a lib folder for supporting libraries, an auth_info_baileys folder for authentication information, package.json for dependencies and scripts, and app.json for deployment configuration.

Features

LAKA-MD WhatsApp Bot Features

The README does not publish a feature list, so the cards below describe the project components the repository files confirm, rather than user facing abilities. Anything beyond this, such as media downloading, AI replies, group administration, games or anti delete tools, is not confirmed by the documentation and should not be assumed.

Baileys Integration

The package.json file lists @whiskeysockets/baileys as a dependency. Baileys is the library the project uses to connect to WhatsApp and manage the linked session.

Plugin Based Structure

The repository has a dedicated plugins folder, alongside a command.js file and a lib folder of supporting code. The exact plugins included and what each one does are not documented in the README.

Session Authentication

The bot keeps its WhatsApp authentication in the auth_info_baileys folder, and its deployment configuration requires a SESSION_ID environment variable, as explained in the Session ID section below.

Configurable Alive Settings

Both app.json and config.js declare SESSION_ID, ALIVE_IMG and ALIVE_MSG settings, so the alive image and alive message can be set through the environment. The config file also reads an AUTO_READ_STATUS setting and a MODE setting.

PM2 Process Management

The package.json scripts run the bot under PM2, with npm start, npm stop and npm restart managing a process named lakabot.

Heroku Deployment File

The repository includes an app.json with a Heroku deployment configuration: the Node.js buildpack, the heroku-24 stack, and the three required environment variables listed above.

Session ID

How the LAKA-MD Session ID Works

What the repository confirms about the Session ID, and what it does not explain.

A Session ID is authentication information a WhatsApp bot setup uses to establish or restore a connection. In LAKA-MD, SESSION_ID is a required environment variable: app.json marks it required, and config.js reads it when the bot starts.

The startup code shows how it is used. When the bot starts and no credentials file exists in the auth_info_baileys folder yet, it uses the SESSION_ID value to download its session credentials file and saves it into that folder, and later starts reuse the saved file.

What the repository does not explain is how you generate that Session ID in the first place. The README documents no pairing process and no Session ID format. A website using the project name exists at laka-md-laka-md.vercel.app and the address loads, but it serves project code rather than a pairing page, so it is not a confirmed pairing or Session ID service. Do not assume an unrelated pairing website can generate credentials that work with this bot.

A pairing code and a Session ID are different things: a pairing code is entered in WhatsApp during a linking process, while a Session ID is authentication information the bot configuration consumes. Never share your Session ID or your authentication files publicly, because they can give access to the linked WhatsApp account.

Deployment

How to Deploy LAKA-MD on Heroku

The repository includes a Heroku deployment configuration in app.json. Having deployment configuration in the repository does not guarantee a free Heroku plan, so check current Heroku pricing and terms before you deploy.

01

Open the GitHub Repository

Visit github.com/Supun-GithHub/LAKA-MD and review the README, the app.json deployment file and the package.json scripts before you proceed.

02

Fork or Clone the Repository

Create your own copy of the repository if you intend to manage and deploy the source code yourself.

03

Create a Heroku App

Sign in at dashboard.heroku.com and create an app. The app.json file targets the heroku-24 stack and the Node.js buildpack.

04

Set the Required Variables

app.json marks three variables as required: SESSION_ID, ALIVE_IMG and ALIVE_MSG. Enter the values the project expects, including your session information.

05

Deploy the Application

Connect the repository and complete the deployment process, making sure the hosting environment supports the dependencies and the persistent process the bot needs.

06

Check the Logs

Review the application logs for installation errors, authentication problems or missing configuration values.

Deployment

How to Run LAKA-MD Locally

The repository package.json supports running the bot on your own computer or server with Node.js.

01

Install Node.js and Git

Install both tools on the computer or server where you plan to run the bot.

02

Clone the Repository

Run git clone https://github.com/Supun-GithHub/LAKA-MD.git and then cd LAKA-MD to enter the project folder.

03

Install Dependencies

Run npm install to install the packages listed in package.json, including Baileys and PM2.

04

Set Your Session

The bot requires a SESSION_ID. The README gives no verified instructions for obtaining one, so do not use random credentials or credentials made for a different bot project.

05

Start the Bot

Run npm start. The start script runs the bot under PM2, and the package also provides npm stop and npm restart to manage the process.

06

Check the Output

Review the terminal output and logs for configuration or connection problems, and keep the process running while you want the bot to stay active.

Commands

LAKA-MD WhatsApp Bot Commands

Why this guide does not list commands for LAKA-MD.

The README does not publish a verified list of user facing WhatsApp commands for LAKA-MD. The repository contains a command.js file and a plugins folder, but their existence alone does not establish which commands are available or what syntax they use.

For accurate information, inspect the current source code and plugin files inside the repository on GitHub. Avoid copying commands from other WhatsApp MD bots, because command names and behaviour differ between projects.

Troubleshooting

Common LAKA-MD Session ID and Deployment Problems

General checks for the problems readers hit most often with this kind of setup.

Session ID Not Working

Confirm the SESSION_ID variable is set in your configuration, that the value belongs to this project, and that the credentials are still valid. Then review the application logs for authentication errors. The exact generation process is not documented in the README.

Installation Failed

Check that Node.js is installed, confirm you are in the correct project directory, run npm install again, and review the error output to see which dependency failed.

Bot Is Not Starting

Check the index.js entry file, the required configuration values and the PM2 process output. Look for missing modules or dependency errors, and confirm the hosting environment supports the application.

WhatsApp Connection Problems

Check your internet connection, review the Baileys authentication information in the auth_info_baileys folder, confirm the session credentials are valid, and read the application logs. Never share authentication files with unknown services.

Commands Not Working

No verified public command list exists for this project, so inspect the plugin files and the command loader in the repository to confirm a command exists before troubleshooting it further.

Safety

Is LAKA-MD WhatsApp Bot Safe?

The precautions that apply to LAKA-MD and to any unofficial bot.

LAKA-MD is an unofficial third party WhatsApp bot project. It is not an official WhatsApp or Meta product, and unofficial WhatsApp automation can lead to temporary restrictions or a permanent account ban.

Consider using a separate WhatsApp number for testing instead of your primary personal or business account. A separate number can reduce the impact on your main account, but it does not remove the risk.

Protect your Session ID and the files in the auth_info_baileys folder. Never share them publicly and never upload them to unknown websites. Before running the bot, review the public source code, its dependencies, plugins, authentication setup and configuration.

Avoid spam and abusive automation, and if you stop using the bot, remove its connection from WhatsApp Linked Devices.
